New arrivals, new prospects: interview with Marco La Rocca
Global vision, valuing the team, transparency and authority towards the customer: the new foreign sales director illustrates the keys to a more innovative approach to managing an increasingly central sector for the company.
Among the new talents brought into the managerial area of Tresoldi Metalli, at the company for two years, Marco La Rocca has twenty years of experience in the metals and copper sector, a great passion for the industry and a mother tongue, German, which has helped him expand the company’s presence in Austria, Germany and the countries of Eastern Europe.
Hi Marco.
You have known the market for many years, you arrived at Tresoldi Metalli already with strong experience. What struck you on your arrival?
Here, for the first time, I really dealt with every area of my sector: in the first few days I entered the orders, I interfaced with production, I directly managed logistics. The management was offering me a rare opportunity: I was able to experience first-hand all the different phases of the company mechanism in its entirety. Without such an organic and integrated experience, I would never have managed to understand how and where to intervene to optimise some internal and external processes.
How did you work to streamline the processes?
First of all, it is not just my commitment: I strongly believe in the importance of the team and every initiative is shared by the entire team. The approach we have introduced is that the sales department should really be an active hinge in the relationship between customer, company and production. This means feasibility analyses carried out upstream and made clear to the customer already at the offer stage and for every aspect of the order: from exhaustive material data sheets to detailed packaging specifications.
The advantages for the customer?
We appear as the serious, structured and organised company that we are. We understand the needs of every organisation and try to find a point of synthesis, for example also through the prior definition of packaging. For the customer, knowing right from signing not only dimensions and material, but also the type of pallet used, the strapping and the weights, makes it possible to better organise their production. With us they know that they will never have surprises and this makes their – and our – business processes leaner.
You spoke about the importance of the team. How many are you and what results are you aiming for?
There are 7 of us internally and we have some external support structures. We work both for the construction market and for the industrial one. At the moment the foreign share stands at about a quarter of global turnover and we are convinced that with the planned investments we will be able to consolidate and expand it, also in view of greater production capacity.
